Why did you choose ITA?
I applied to library school looking to go into corporate knowledge management. ITA gave me the opportunity to bootstrap their first formal initiative in my ideal environment. The culture here is open and intelligent, and information sharing is prolific. People see the value in sharing and the need for more organization in their resources.

What's been your most exciting achievement here?
Going from planning to launching a company-wide document management system with an initial plan for migrating 18,000 documents. The project is just about 50% complete now.

What do you like best about ITA?
There is a lot of variety. I am not only constantly expanding my technical abilities, but I also run multiple other library services. I manage ITA's physical library and our online library catalog, oversee negotiations with academic database vendors, user training, and run an enterprise search engine.

The people are truly brilliant and a lot of fun to work with. Negotiating service levels and keeping these people moving in the same direction with respect to information management is incredibly rewarding.

What interesting things have you learned outside of your job responsibilities at ITA or from ITA co-workers?
Pink glitter is impossible to get out of the carpet. Shoes are truly optional in life. Most technical tasks can be accomplished with baked goods. The hackers enjoy an occasional tiara and Casual Princess Friday. I've learned more than I ever wanted to know about Star Wars and Burning Man.

On a more serious note - most of the skills I've picked up at ITA are used to advance my current projects. Sometimes they become a new project, such as my enterprise search engine or running my own Linux servers for the document management system.

What hobbies/activities are you involved in outside of ITA?
I volunteer through the Junior League of Boston
