Testing a Data Storage System Internship

ITA is building a new high-performance data storage system for its airline reservation and inventory management products.  When complete, it will store terabytes of interrelated data that must be retrieved and updated in a few milliseconds.  And it all has to happen in an environment with 24x7 availability, where downtime is measured in minutes per year.  That’s why we need an intern to help ensure the data storage system really lives up to its requirements!  This intern will work with the data storage team to devise a suite of the nastiest, torturous, and most brutal test scripts they can imagine; write tests in Python; execute them against a rapidly changing and complex codebase; and analyze the results.

Requirements:

• Write tests that delve into concurrency, low-level storage mechanisms, transaction control, data retrieval and modification, queries, disk-based indexes, and multithreaded request processing.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Experience in Python or a similar language
• Understanding of testing methodologies and/or profiling and debugging C++ applications a plus
