Project Manager

The Project Manager at ITA Software identifies, develops, and provides value-added, accurate, and dependable analyses of project-related metrics. In addition to developing project work plans and schedules for multiple projects through Engineering, QA, and deployment phases, the Project Manager reports against those schedules and identifies discrepancies between expected and actual progress, develops recovery plans, and communicates status effectively with other members of the management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work and communicate efficiently with Engineering, Product Management, QA, and Operations management as well as customers
  • Gather and report status regularly to the project team, other Engineering groups, executives, and customers
  • Identify, develop, and report on project-related metrics
  • Identify, manage, and monitor significant potential issues, risks, and delays
  • Manage, monitor, and facilitate communication and resolution of cross-team and client issues
  • Complete work on time and deliver on promised and well-specified targets
  • Operate independently with minimal review, redirection, and assistance
  • Some travel may be required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required. Project Management certification is desirable.
  • Proven project management experience with 7 or more years experience managing complex technical projects interfacing with software engineering and quality assurance is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project is required. Proficiency in other tools (e.g., Excel, etc.) is also highly desired.
  • Ability to help others develop project planning artifacts, by asking questions, analyzing data, and challenging assumptions to help clarify thinking, ensuring all work is included in the artifact is required.
  • Airline or travel industry experience is valuable.
  • Project management experience in a challenging, non-traditional, software development environment is valuable.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with a variety of software development processes.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Comfortable operating within a matrix management structure coordinating with people from multiple groups.
  • Able to absorb product and domain knowledge quickly and apply that knowledge to the project being managed including being able to serve as liaison between business and technical teams.
  • Able to think strategically, balancing a broad range of internal and external factors when identifying problems, proposing solutions, and making decisions.
  • Enthusiastic about working for a fast-paced, rapidly growing company.
  • Energetic, outgoing, highly organized, persistent, and tenacious. Able to deal with uncertainty and change.
