The Engineering Manager will be a key member of the company’s management team, and will be responsible for leading engineering product development and delivery for the company’s reservation system (PSS), as well as for growing and mentoring a team of talented engineers and management personnel. He/She will be responsible for meeting commitments and taking responsibility/accountability for large scale projects. The Engineering Manager must be capable of delivering quality products on-time and within budget. This individual must be capable of growing and mentoring a large scale (50+) development organization during a period of rapid growth.
The selected candidate will drive the technology direction for all aspects of development and deployment to support robust and scalable products. While preserving the company’s highly creative and innovative operating culture, the selected candidate will introduce appropriate processes and structure to ensure accountability and performance within the engineering organization. He/She will interact closely with the Product Management function to ensure the effective hand-off of products from development to market. He/She will have a problem-solving attitude and will instill an effective product development process within the company. This person must be a forward-looking team-oriented person with enthusiasm and initiative.
THE CANDIDATE
The selected candidate will be an accomplished engineering leader with advanced educational disciple and substantial experience with technology and/or technical development. The skills and experience of the successful Engineering Manager will include:
Significant experience (4+ yrs) in leading engineering development in a high growth company environment.
Track record of technical leadership, keeping engineering organizations aligned around a shared direction
Formulate technical and business direction through solid understanding of mission and competitive strengths.
Proven track record of value creation through the use of innovative technology.
Directed technical staff supporting Architecture, Design, Software Development, and Documentation.
Track record for hiring “A” players and over-delivering on commitments.
Comfortable leading public forums, speaking for the department, division and company.
Established operational excellence/quality programs, striving toward a world-class leadership role for the firm.
Relate well to a wide range of client environments and be able to convincingly present arguments for the superiority of solutions to prospective partners and major customers.
An M.S. Degree in engineering, management, technical or a computer-oriented technical discipline is required.
