Googlers Run Holiday Toy Drive

During December 2011, Cambridge Googlers donated 60+ gifts to students at ABCD Head Start as part of our holiday gift drive. Volunteers then visited ABCD's Dorchester Neighborhood House to distribute the gifts and watch the students tear them open!

 

     

Googlers Wrap Gifts for Charity

Twenty Cambridge Googlers headed over to the CambridgeSide Galleria during the busy holiday shopping season to pack, wrap, and adorn gifts for shoppers. All proceeds benefited Rosie's Place, a Boston shelter for women and children.  


  
 
   

Googlers Serve Homeless Vets

On November 15th and November 29th, 2011, Googlers went to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans to serve dinner to the veterans who have served us. Over the course of two days, we served about 300 homeless vets. It was a humbling and wonderful way to honor those who have served for us. 

 

     

Googlers Volunteer at the Greater Boston Food Bank
On September 21st, 2011 volunteers at the Greater Boston Food Bank helping to sort 10,356 pounds of food; that’s 6372 meals for those in need! We also donated 5 bags and 3 boxes of non-perishables from our food drive. Everyone plays a role in fighting hunger! 
 


 
 

Googlers Volunteer at the Bikes Not Bombs Shop

Five Googlers got their hands good and greasy on August 24th's vounterring event at Bikes Not Bombs, a company that promotes bicylce technology as an alternative to war and environmental destruction. The group spent time flattening bikes for international shipment, cutting spokes off wheels, and sorting salvaged parts.

 

   

Googlers Help with Green Initiatives on the Charles River

On July 21, nearly 40 Googlers set sail on the Charles River to remove invasive water chestnuts. The event was organized through a partnership with the Charles River Conservancy. Removing 383 laundry baskets full of plants - and tipping only one canoe :) - the event was a great success!


   
 
   
 

ITA Hosts Cambridge Science Festival Rubik's Cube Workshop

On Thursday, May 25, 2011, ITA held a Rubik's Cube Workshop as part of the Cambridge Science Festival. Over 50 kids and adults congregated at the ITA offices to hear about the math behind the cube and work one-on-one with Google engineers on tips and tricks for solving the cube.

   

GoogleServe 2011
GoogleServe 2011 kicked off June 10 in 60+ Google offices around the world. GoogleServe is an annual tradition where Googlers volunteer together to make a difference in their local communities. The program included a wide range range of projects, including hosting an ice cream social for the elderly to planting, mulching, and weeding at a local organic farm to fight hunger.

 


   
 
   

ITA Supports the Kendall Band Preservation Society
ITA is a proud sponsor of the MIT KBPS, a music and engineering student organization that restores, documents, and maintains the musical installation/sculpture at the Kendall T stop created by Paul Matisse, grandson of painter Henri Matisse. ITA participated in the unveiling of the restored musical instruments on April 30, 2011.

 

     

ITA Holds Charity Drive for Japan Disaster Relief
In April 2011, ITA held a charity drive to benefit Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Employees donated to the Central Community Chest of Japan, a member of the United Way worldwide network. ITA matched 100% of employee contributions.


    
 
   

ITA Software Supports Local Opera Company
ITA Software is a proud supporter of the North Cambridge Family Opera, a theater company in Cambridge, MA that produces original, entirely-sung operas and oratorios accessible for audiences of all ages. 
 

 
 
 

ITA Volunteers Prepare Food Boxes at the Greater Boston Food Bank
On March 16 we volunteered at the Greater Boston Food Bank helping to sort 12,600 pounds of food: that's 7,749 meals for those in need. 


    
 
   

Bone Marrow Drive
Ezra is 18 months old and suffers from a rare immune disorder. He needs a bone marrow transplant to survive. On January 25th, ITA and Gift of Life held a donor registration drive. Thirty-two ITAers had their cheeks swabbed, registered and committed to help Ezra or any other patient in need.
 

     

ITAers Wrap Gifts for Charity
On December 22, 2010, ITAers gathered at the Cambridgeside Galleria to wrap gifts for holiday shoppers. During the five hour event, ITAers raised $556.25, which was matched by ITA for a total of $1,112.50. All proceeds were donated to Rosie's Place, a Boston shelter for women and children. 


 
 
 
   

Greater Boston Food Bank Turkey Drive
ITA set out with a goal of donating 400 turkeys in this year's Greater Boston Food Bank Turkey Drive. We quickly blew past that number and in the end, 109 donors gave $5,849. ITA generously matched $5682 for a grand giving total of $11,531: 887 turkeys!

 

     

ITAers Serve at New England Center for Homeless Veterans
On November 9th, 7 ITAers went the New England Center for Homeless Veterans to serve dinner to more than 140 military veterans who served for our country. A big thanks to these men and women and their selfless service!


 
 
 
   

Company-Wide Volunteer Day
On October 13, 2010 over 150 ITAers headed out to volunteer with five different organizations throughout the Boston area: the Charles River Conservancy, Margaret Fuller House, Greater Boston Food Bank, Pine Street Inn, and ReVision Urban Farm. ITAers Serve Meals at Boston Homeless Shelter
ITA employees prepped and served dinner to over 100 women at Rosie's Place in July 2010. Rosie's Place, a shelter for Boston area women, offers emergency and long-term assistance to women who have nowhere else to turn.



 

   

ITAers Volunteer for the Charles River Conservancy
On June 22, 2010 ITAers removed over 200 baskets of invasive Water Chestnuts from Boston's Charles River. Water chestnuts are aquatic plants that grow very densely and can choke the water in shallow sections of the river and along the shoreline, severely limiting light, decreasing oxygen in the water, and preventing boat passage.

   

ITA Continues Volunteering Partnership with the Greater Boston Food Bank 
ITA employees visited the Greater Boston Food Bank again in May 2010 to sort food for hunger-relief agencies throughout eastern Massachusetts. At the end of the evening, 6007 lbs of food had been sorted, meaning each volunteer helped one person get 3 meals a day for 38 days.



 

  

CrisisCamp Boston
On January 23, 2010, ITA Software hosted CrisisCamp Boston, a volunteer event aimed at supporting Haiti relief efforts through technology-based projects. Over 140 volunteers from the Boston/Cambridge tech community showed up to donate their time for the cause. CrisisCamp is run by Crisis Commons, a volunteer organization that helps people in time of crisis.

             

ITA Volunteers Wrap Gifts for Charity
On December 22, 2009, ITAers gathered at the Cambridgeside Galleria to pack, wrap, tape, and adorn gifts for holiday shoppers. All proceeds from the 5 hour event were donated to Rosie's Place, a sanctuary in Boston for homeless women.  

 


 

 


 

ITAers Volunteer at East End House
East End House is a not-for-profit, multi-service community center and social service agency that provides programs and services to strengthen family and community. In October 2009, ITA volunteers helped school aged kids during homework hour and assisted during break out sessions.

   

ITA Volunteers Prepare Food Boxes at the Greater Boston Food Bank
ITA employees visited the Greater Boston Food Bank in September 2009 to pack boxes of food for hunger-relief agencies throughout eastern Massachusetts. At the end of the evening, 6,280 lbs. of food had been sorted, enough for 3,964 meals. The largest non-profit hunger-relief organization in New England, the Greater Boston Food Bank's mission is to help end hunger in eastern Massachusetts.

 


 

 


 

ITA Volunteers Prepare Meals at Boston's Pine Street Inn
Every night, close to 7,000 men, women, and children in the city of Boston have no home. Pine Street Inn strives to provide the full spectrum of services to help men and women reach their highest level of independence and get back to a place they can call home. On August 14th, 2009, ITA employees visited the Inn to serve dinner to 287 men and then clear the dining room.

ITA Volunteers Beautify Charles River Pathway
On May 15, 2009, 170 ITA employees, friends, and family turned out to paint nearly a mile of railing between the Longfellow Bridge and Lechmere Canal along the Charles River in Cambridge.

The project was coordinated through the Charles River Conservancy, a nonprofit citizens' advocacy group dedicated to the renewal of the Charles River Parklands from the Boston Harbor to the Watertown Dam. 

     

ITA's Customer Support Team Volunteers at Local Shelter
In March 2009, ITA's Customer Support team painted a section of the Woods Mullen Shelter in Boston that had not been painted in ten years due to lack of resources.

The Woods Mullen Shelter is an emergency shelter operated by the Boston Public Health Commission Homeless Services Bureau. Woods Mullen provides food, clothing, health care, and case management services for anyone who is in need.
